Raymond High School students gained a firsthand look at the judicial system on October 26, 2026, through an educational courthouse visit coordinated by Hinds County Circuit Clerk Zach Wallace and Raymond High School Career Coach William Martin.
During the visit, students observed criminal court proceedings, including pretrial hearings, plea proceedings, and sentencing, providing an authentic view of how the judicial system operates. The experience highlighted the responsibilities of district attorneys, defense attorneys, judges, court reporters, and other court personnel. Observing these professionals in action introduced students to potential careers within the judicial system while demonstrating the importance of preparation, clear communication, and attention to detail.
Beyond career exploration, the visit provided students with a deeper understanding of the judicial process, the importance of civic responsibility, and the role of the courts in their communities.
Hinds County School District extends its appreciation to Mr. Wallace and the courthouse staff for providing this meaningful opportunity for Raymond High School students to explore careers in law and public service while connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences.
