The Hinds County School District has entered into a partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center to provide qualified juniors and seniors at Raymond High School with an intensive, two-year biomedical research experience through UMMCās Base Pair Program.
Participating students will work in an established biomedical science laboratory under the guidance of a UMMC mentor and visit the UMMC campus throughout their junior and senior years. Students will receive laboratory-based learning, orientation to UMMCās facilities and policies, and valuable exposure to careers in biomedical science, medicine and research.
Raymond High School will select qualified students, provide academic oversight and instruction, coordinate transportation, and ensure participants meet UMMCās health and onboarding requirements. UMMC and HCSD will work collaboratively to maintain a safe, high-quality educational experience.
This partnership expands rigorous, real-world learning opportunities and helps prepare HCSD Achievers for college and careers in science and healthcare. For more information, contact: William Martin, Career Coach, Raymond High School at wmartin@cmpdd.org.
