Hinds County School District Hosts Transformative 2025 Administrators' Retreat
The Hinds County School District brought together its leadership team for a dynamic and inspiring two-day Administrators' Retreat, held July 24–25, 2025. The retreat, themed “Renewing Our Purpose: Rekindling Love, Hope and Passion for Leadership,” served as a powerful launchpad for the upcoming school year, uniting principals, assistant principals, district leaders, and support staff in a shared vision of excellence.
The event opened with a warm welcome and breakfast, followed by a motivational charge from Superintendent Dr. Mitchell Shears, who emphasized the importance of leading with compassion, vision, and purpose. Throughout the retreat, attendees participated in a series of Team Spark activities led by school leaders from across the district, designed to foster collaboration, celebrate school spirit, and highlight innovative practices in a fun and engaging way. Key sessions included:
Instructional Excellence in Action, highlighting key data points related to curriculum, assessment, and support systems.
Whole Child, Whole Support, a two-part series focused on exceptional education and student behavioral health.
District Pulse, offering insights into business services, human Resources, technology, and federal programs.
Student Services in Action, covering transportation, safety, discipline, and crisis response.
The retreat also featured engaging segments like “Law & Order: The Hinds County School Edition” presented by Adams & Reese, L.L.P., and team-building experiences at Top Golf, reinforcing the district’s commitment to collaboration and well-being.
Dr. Shears praised the retreat as “a celebration of our collective leadership and a recommitment to the students and families we serve.”
As the district prepares for the new academic year, the retreat has set a strong foundation for unity, innovation, and student-centered leadership.
