The vision of Terry High counselors is for all students to graduate empowered with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic, personal/social, and career success, and to reach their fullest potential as respectful, responsible citizens.

As student advocates, Professional School Counselors provide a comprehensive program that promotes student success through a focus on academic achievement, social/personal, career and multicultural/global citizenship development.

Shane Wingate (Students with the last name E-J) 

Mr. Wingate or "Coach Wingate" has been in education for 24 years. He has served as an Athletic Director, head coach in football, basketball (Boys/Girls), track, power lifting and track, along with various other minor sports. He has taught AP World History, U.S. History, Ms Studies, Economics, Government, Psychology, Sociology and Geography. He served as an Interventionist for  2 years before coming to Terry High School. This is Mr. Wingate's first year as a counselor.  He also served 8 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard, along with being a Desert Storm Veteran. He has 2 children, ages 29 and 21 years of age. He is a graduate of Richland High School and received his Bachelors degree from Delta State University where he also played football. Mr. Wingate received his masters in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama.
