Mr. Burke is on a mission to create an engaging and empowering environment in school districts that will ensure excellence for not only students but inspires excellence from school boards, superintendents, and all other district personnel. He has had a thirty-year career, spanning small business, private school, and public school financial management and operations, which provides him a unique perspective on school district operations.  

 

Mr. Burke has been employed in the Hinds County School District for more than twenty years.  Starting at Terry High School in 1997, Mr. Burke was promoted to Central Office in 2000, where he became School District Business Manager.  In 2013, Mr. Burke became the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and Operations and Chief Financial Officer.

 

Mr. Burke received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Belhaven University and a Master of Business Administration from Jackson State University. 

 

Mr. Burke is a licensed school business administrator (SBA) by the State of Mississippi.  He is a certified School Food Service Administrator (SFSA) by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE).  He is a certified Professional Property Administrator (CPPA) by the National Property Manager Association. He is also a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations (SFO) by the Association of School Business Officials, International. 

 

Mr. Burke is a past president and current board member of the Mississippi Association of School Business Officials (MASBO). He serves on the Board of the Southeastern Association of School Business (SASBO) representing Mississippi as a director.   He serves on several education-related board, committees and task forces, all striving to improve the operational and fiscal performance of school districts. 

 

Mr. Burke has received many awards and honors, over his career, including several from his peers in the school business profession. Mr. Burke was a 2012 recipient of the Distinguished Professional Eagle Award, by Association of School Business Official International (ASBO).  In 2015, he was honored by his Mississippi peers with the Mississippi ASBO (MASBO) Outstanding Business Official of the Year award.   Also, in 2015, he received the Association of School Business Official International (ASBO), International Eagle Award for achievement in the school business profession.

 

Mr. Burke is married and is the father of three daughters.
