    Master's Recital

    Briana Brown is the Assistant Director of Choirs at Terry High School. She also teaches A.P. Music Theory and Music Appreciation. Her previous appointments include Director of Music Ministries at First Baptist Polkville in Polkville, MS, Music Teacher and Choral Director at Luther Branson Elementary in Madison County, Mississippi, and Music Associate at First Baptist Church of Oxford, Mississippi. Mrs. Brown holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, Juris Doctor with a Criminal Law Certificate, and Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi.

    At the University of Mississippi, she was a member of Concert Singers, Women’s Glee and the Opera Theatre Ensemble. Highlights  include singing for President Barack Obama at the White House, choral tours of Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic, singing principal roles with the Scuola Italia Program for Young Opera Singers in Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy, and participation in the Druid City Opera Workshop and Young Artist Training Program. Mrs. Brown was a finalist at the Mississippi National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition in 2005, 2006, 2012, and 2013. Additional honors include the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for the University of Mississippi College of Liberal Arts, the Outstanding Graduate Vocalist Award, the Outstanding Undergraduate in Music, and the Outstanding Undergraduate in Music History and Theory. Additionally, during her graduate studies, Mrs. Brown taught Music Theory & Analysis, Introduction to Music, and served as the Opera Assistant and Assistant Director for UM Opera Theatre.

    As a vocalist, Mrs. Brown has performed the roles of Sister Margaretta (The Sound of Music), Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro), Dame Doleful (Too Many Sopranos), Wendy Jo (Footloose), Buttercup (H.M.S. Pinafore), Uncle Thomas (The King and I), Mrs. Meg Page (The Merry Wives of Windsor) and Chorus in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Die Fledermaus, and The Pirates of Penzance. She has also performed partial roles as Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice), Preziosilla (La Forza del Destino), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Mallika (Lakmé), Jo (Little Women), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Witch (Into the Woods), Suzuki (Magic Butterfly), Margaret Johnson (The Light in the Piazza), Meg Page (Falstaff), and Chorus in La Traviata, Il Trovatore, and The Crucible.
