In Science this year, we will be learning about the interdependance of systems across life science, physical science, and earth & space science. We will research and experiment to find answers using the engineering process. We will become critical thinkers and problem solvers.
This year we will be using a Science resource called STEMscopes. Students will be given all they need to efficiently study for daily grades and tests. Students will keep their STEMscopes notes in their folder and create an interactive notebook, and will use those as their main resources for notes and studying. At the end of the year, my hope is that your student will leave 5th grade a proficient scientist. The students will be taking the MAAP-SCI in May. We will be preparing for the MAAP-SCI all year. Our goal is to be 65% proficient!
We will also be learning more about Computer Science. Fourth grade students began this study, and we will continue it in fifth grade with our focus being on learning to code. All Computer Science activities will be done together in class and count as a Social Studies grade.
