    Healthcare Leaders Scholarship

    Nurse.org is a great source for students considering a career in nursing. There is an opportunity for $1,000 to be awarded once a year to a student pursuing a career in the healthcare-related field.

    MS Educators 2017 National High School Essay Contest

    This contest is for high school students in grades 9 – 12 whose parents are not members of the Foreign Service. Students must write an essay that provides recommendations to the ambassador about the crisis involving refugees and internally displaced persons in that country. Essays must be in a memo format. Essays are due March 15, 2017. For more information go to www.afsa.org.

    BOARDWALK PIPELINE PARTNERS, LP Scholarship program

     

    A $1,000 scholarship will be granted to seniors enrolled in a full time undergraduate course of study. To be eligible students must have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; they must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college or university of student’s choice; cannot be a child of an employee of the Boardwalk Pipeline Partners. Applications will be available at www.sms.scholarshipamerica.org/boardwalkpipelinepartners. Application postmark deadline is February 15, 2017. Mrs. Pace has handouts

    AXA Achievement Scholarship

     

    Are you active in your community? Have you led a project that benefits others? Have you overcome personal challenges? If so, learn more about this scholarship and apply on-line at www.axa-achievement.com. Application will close when they receive 10,000 applicants or by December 15, 2016, whichever comes first,

     

    USDA Scholarships

     

    The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program offers scholarships awarded annually and must be used at one of the 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities. Each award provides full tuition, as well as room and board, for the term of the scholarship.     Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

    This scholarship is open to all college-bound, high school seniors. Students must write an essay entitled: “What would you propose to substantially reduce the incidence of gun violence in the United States and around the world without taking away the legal rights of law abiding citizens to acquire and possess firearms?” The contest closes October 21st 2016. For more details and rules see Mrs. Pace.

    The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholarship

    For information on this scholarship go to reply@reply.reaganfoundation.org. The final deadline for this scholarship is November 10th, 2016.

     

    Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) Scholarship

    This scholarship is available to high school seniors who have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA and have a 28 or above on the ACT. Students must be planning to major in elementary education, special education, mathematics secondary education, or English secondary education and meet all of the academic requirements.  For more information see Mrs. Pace or contact Shane Davis at shane.davis@colled.msstate.edu or call 662-325-5543 or go to metp.msstate.edu.

    Discover Student Loans Scholarship Award (the “Sweepstakes”)

    This scholarship is available to seniors in high school who are planning to attend an accredited, non-profit, four-year College or university in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories. To enter go to www.collegecovered.com or www.discoverstudentloans.com and follow the on-screen instructions to submit an Entry into the Sweepstakes. The deadline to enter is February 28, 2017. See Mrs. Pace for more details.

    Hinds C.C. Career Exploration Day

    This will be held at the Muse Center in Pearl, MS on Tuesday, November 8th from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. This event is open for 8th – 12th grade students to explore career opportunities. There will be over 50 booths, representing careers ranging from nursing, education, marketing, aviation, agriculture, law enforcement, hospitality, radiology fashion, manufacturing, and much more. Parents are welcome too. Make sure you meet the requirements for all colleges to which you apply
