Nurse.org is a great source for students considering a career in nursing. There is an opportunity for $1,000 to be awarded once a year to a student pursuing a career in the healthcare-related field.
MS Educators 2017 National High School Essay Contest
This contest is for high school students in grades 9 – 12 whose parents are not members of the Foreign Service. Students must write an essay that provides recommendations to the ambassador about the crisis involving refugees and internally displaced persons in that country. Essays must be in a memo format. Essays are due March 15, 2017. For more information go to www.afsa.org.

Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) Scholarship
This scholarship is available to high school seniors who have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA and have a 28 or above on the ACT. Students must be planning to major in elementary education, special education, mathematics secondary education, or English secondary education and meet all of the academic requirements. Discover Student Loans Scholarship Award (the “Sweepstakes”)
This scholarship is available to seniors in high school who are planning to attend an accredited, non-profit, four-year College or university in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories. Hinds C.C. Career Exploration Day
This will be held at the Muse Center in Pearl, MS on Tuesday, November 8th from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. This event is open for 8th – 12th grade students to explore career opportunities. There will be over 50 booths, representing careers ranging from nursing, education, marketing, aviation, agriculture, law enforcement, hospitality, radiology fashion, manufacturing, and much more. Parents are welcome too. Make sure you meet the requirements for all colleges to which you apply
