Hello GREat GRE Bulldog Pup Parents,
We have spent countless hours preparing for the return of our little pups. Although, we are still under unpredictable circumstances, I feel extremely confident that our team of educators are prepared to handle Covid-19 related situations. We have thoroughly trained our team members numerous times; we have brainstormed and walked through our plan for students and we are eager to see their smiling faces.
Gary Road Elementary School’s first day of instruction is scheduled for August 17, 2020. If the mentioned start date were to change, we will be sure to send Remind messages, post on social media, and conduct a callout for your convenience. We will communicate continuously throughout this process, our central platform for communication will be Remind, Social Media and callouts, so be sure to join our Facebook page, visit the website frequently, and respond to your Remind email to gain access.
We want you to feel prepared and comfortable with sending your child traditionally to school. Therefore, we have listed our essential safety precautions that will be practiced at Gary Road Elementary School.
- Everyone is required to wear a mask/cloth covering the mouth, nose, and chin.
- Everyone will be strongly advised to remain 6ft apart when traveling or making contact.
- Air Ionization in every classroom and in hallways.
- Desk barriers during breakfast and lunch.
- Students will remain in homeroom and not switch classes.
- Students will receive 4 breaks open space or outdoors 6ft apart.
- Routine temperature checks upon entrance, and as need be.
- Registered patients will receive medical responses from Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Clinic.
- Daily sanitization and disinfecting.
The dynamics have slightly changed due to Covid-19, therefore we are asking parents to help us with the following tasks.
- Be sure to send personal (pocket sized) hand sanitizer with your child(ren).
- Send a backup mask. If students do not have masks the school will provide them with one. However, children will probably feel more comfortable with a personal mask that he or she has become accustomed to.
- Allow your child(ren) to use the restroom before reporting to bus stop or before leaving to be dropped off as a car rider. We have a very strict restroom schedule (3 restroom class visits) to ensure supervision during restroom time. However, students will always be allowed to use the restroom when necessary.
- Backpacks are allowed for traditional students on the first day of school to bring his or her supplies. After the first day, he or she will not need a backpack. The school will provide a parent- communicator that will come home periodically.
Due to Covid-19 the car rider drop-off has been modified to decrease massive crowds going in one direction. Please be on the lookout for the following.
