Hinds County School District receives $1.7 million dollars in Phase One development sale of land Raymond, Mississippi, December 11, 2014 –Hinds County School District announced today the receipt of a check from Byram Town Center, LLC, (“BTC”) for the sale of land in a multi-phase development of excess school property. BTC is a partnership between Hinds County School District and the development firm, Southeast Properties, LLC, for the purposes of developing approximately 70 acres of land in the heart of Byram, Mississippi.
Through the partnership so far BTC has attracted two restaurants chains, Newk’s and Burger King, to locate on the property. The recent sale will open the way for retail giant, Wal-Mart, to come into the Byram area.
Board of Education members and the Superintendent will
invest the proceeds of the sale and determine the use during the FY 2016 budget
HCSD Parent Academy is designed to provide parents with information on the Common Core State Standards being used in the classrooms in 2014-2015. The goal is to provide parents with a clear understanding of what their child is expected to learn and know. Parents will get answers to questions, be provided with resources and learn ways they can help their children become stronger academically.
